Otty was a Juror’s Award recipient for her submission to the International Encaustic Artists show entitled Vignettes in Wax and Words. Her piece, entitled Our Lady of the Recycling Center, is pictured below, along with an original poem entitled “Arise”. The theme for this issue was finding hope in dark times and using art to heal. The call came in the beginning months of the pandemic. Artists were asked to create an original piece of art involving encaustic wax and also creating or assigning some literary expression to go along with the art. 40 artists from 10 countries submitted work that was juried by a well-known encaustic artist, Lora Murphy. The show premiered on August 1, 2020.
